LIVESTOCK farmers are being urged by the National Farmers' Union to play their part in reducing the possibility of bluetongue disease by seriously considering whether it is worth the risk of importing livestock from parts of the European Community where the virus is known to be circulating. They are being counselled to be extra vigilant after reports of further suspected cases of the bluetongue variants BTV1 and BTV8 in France and across continental Europe earlier this month.
