Agusta Westland's Pounds 1.4bn Helicopter Order Could Be Scaled Down

Fears for the Pounds 1.4 billion contract awarded to AgustaWestland in Yeovil for a fleet of new helicopters eased yesterday although the Government offered no guarantees on how many aircraft would be built.

The scrapping of the order for 62 new Lynx Wildcat had been seen as a quick way for the Ministry of Defence to reduce its spending, even being suggested in a confidential internal MoD memo.
