Summary
UKIP parliamentary candidate Hugh Williams (letter, September 8) gave a touching account of Marta Andreasen's story. This "brave woman" (Mr Williams' words) became a UKIP MEP after leaving the post of European Commission chief accountant amid rows over accountancy practices. She also took the opportunity to write a book on the controversy, published by Mr Williams.
UKIP officials have since held her up as an honest soul committed to fighting corruption and malpractice wherever she finds it. And of course the party is whiter than white. But perhaps she will have an opportunity to write another book. On the day Mr Williams' letter was published, Ms Andreasen announced that she was standing down from her post as UKIP treasurer due to finding breaches of spending practice in the party.See the full content of this document
