Summary


Under welcoming summer skies Royal Fleet Auxiliary Argus returned home to the Westcountry after rescuing citizens from war-torn Libya and carrying out anti-piracy patrols in the Gulf of Aden.

The vessel, which can operate as a hospital and helicopter ship, arrived in Falmouth on Sunday evening afternoon after a four-and- ahalf month deployment. She sailed from UK waters at less than 24- hours notice to help evacuate civilians from Libya before passing through the Suez Canal for a ten-week stint on standby in case people needed to be evacuated from Yemen. Captain Paul Kehoe, commanding officer, said: "The short-notice deployment to the Mediterranean and the Gulf of Aden demonstrated once again the flexibility and readiness of the Royal Navy and the Royal Fleet Auxiliary to react almost instantaneously to world events.
