THE Takeover Panel has intervened to issue Devonport Dockyard owner Babcock International with a "put up or shut up order" to end uncertainty around its intentions towards defence services business the VT Group.

Babcock has been given until 5pm on April 12 to either make a firm offer for VT or announce that it is no longer pursuing the Southampton-based group.
