FOR Gordon Brown to pledge Pounds 500 million - which is 25 per cent of the EU contribution - to tackling climate change at a time when we are virtually bankrupt is poor leadership, but for the whole world to think that throwing money at the problem defies belief.
Just taking Britain as an example, any business would work on a profit of say 10-15 per cent, so to have Pounds 500 million spare after tax, which is beyond my mathematical skills, probably means industry has to generate over Pounds 3 billion to be able to spend this amount.
