Put simply, Yeovil failed to show up in Oxford, allowing the home side to run out 1-0 winners. Whether it was nerves among the players, conscious that theirs was a scalp worth having, or just lackadaisicalness, who knows. The plain fact of the matter was that, despite the two-league gap, Yeovil were outplayed and outfought by an Oxford team who wanted to go through to the second round of the FA Cup more than they did.
