For the first time this year, we have had a number high profile, local deals without any lead adviser input from the professionals in the region. Among others, Flybe's acquisition of the BA Connect business, the sale of Exeter Airport and the sale of Devonport Dockyard to Babcock all had their lead advisers located in either Bristol or London.

The Flybe deal to buy British Airways' loss-making BA Connect for pounds1 had been brokered over many months but happened quickly and quietly - at the end of 2006.
