Summary


Walter Goodall was born in London in 1830 and was the youngest son of the engraver Edward Goodall, 1795-1870. His two elder brothers, Edward A Goodall, 1819-1908, and Frederick G Goodall, 1822- 1904, are also well known artists of the period.

In his early years he trained at the Government School of Design at Somerset House and at the Royal Academy schools, as well as attending the Clipstone Street Academy.
