Businesses Back Call for a Vat Cut for Tourism Sector

Tourism and business leaders in Torbay are calling for the Government to cut the rate of VAT for businesses in the tourism and hospitality sector. It follows a similar plea to tourism minister John Penrose from Rick Stein and other Cornish tourism leaders last month.

John Rowe, partner at Francis Clark, said the economic climate was "hurting" firms in the sector, which the Westcountry, and Torbay in particular, is heavily reliant upon.
