Former Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon last night faced calls to quit the Government over the death of Cornish tank commander Sergeant Steve Roberts in Iraq.
Sgt Roberts was shot dead in a "friendly fire" incident as he confronted rioting Iraqis in Az Zubayr in March 2003. He had been ordered to give up his body armour because of shortages and was shot by a machine-gun from a British tank that was fired at too close a range.See the full content of this document
