Summary
Since Joanna Lumley has so successfully applied her celebrity status to solving the plight of the Gurkhas, perhaps she could be persuaded to campaign for justice for the rights of the 2,000 or so Chagos Islanders, 100 per cent British citizens, who were forcibly evicted from their homeland of Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean and dumped in slum conditions on the island of Mauritius, more than 1,000 miles away, nearly half a century ago, and never allowed back.
