W ith ARMS that are almost too large and over-stuffed, a Victorian mahogany framed button back armchair sits in Sherborne's Charterhouse Auctioneers' two-day sale that starts on Thursday. In a green Dralon fabric, this seat has turned front legs and invites interest of pounds100-pounds150 - but is quite plain when seen beside the Louis XV-style fauteuil covered in a tapestry material showing a garden scene.

Its arms are modest in comparison yet its patterned fabric, carved cabriole legs and knurl feet more than make up for any overdue modesty for a chair that should make pounds300-pounds500.
