Charity Events May Get Free Policing

Summary


Community and charity events could soon receive free policing if new proposals are given the go-ahead.

Currently, organisers of such events are required to pay half of the cost of traffic control and general stewarding of events. But the Devon and Cornwall Police Authority is now to be asked to consider a set of charges that will see charitable and community events receive the first pounds5,000 of policing free of charge.
