SHORTLY after D-Day, towns and villages throughout the British Isles spontaneously set up "Welcome Home" committees to ensure a suitable homecoming for the servicemen and women at the end of the Second World War, writes Ivor Quick.
In Four Lanes, a village just outside Redruth, 16 men got together to sing in concerts around the area to raise money in support of the village's Welcome Home committee. Little did they realise then just what they were starting.See the full content of this document
