IT IS a schoolboy error to muddle up weather and climate and conclude from the current cold spell that global warming is a myth. One freezing winter barely alters a long-term warming trend and temperatures in Britain are not necessarily representative of what's happening across the globe.
Yet it is instructive to listen to the general responses to the cold snap in the context of global warming, not least because of the insight they give us into why so much climate science is still treated with such deep suspicion by millions of ordinary people in the UK and elsewhere.See the full content of this document
