I COULD not help being a bit amused by the letter about the Cornish language from Peter Russell (September 10).

Mr Russell seems to be the epitome of a very old-fashioned kind of Englishman for whom whether something is "useful" or "superfluous" depends on how much or not it inconveniences him personally.
