COUNCIL staff took an icy dip in the sea - to raise funds for a children's sailing charity.

As temperatures plummeted to the lowest of the winter so far, 20 brave members of Plymouth City Council planning and transport departments leapt into Plymouth Sound yesterday. The swimmers, many in fancy dress, set out from the bathing area at the west end of Hoe Road, cheered on by friends and less-courageous colleagues.
