THERE'S nothing quite like a tourist honey-pot in the depths of winter. The calendar classic, picture postcard, coach tour- cluttered-type places that put the phrase "theme park" back into Britain are magical when there's no-one else around.

But few of these special places are quite as beautiful as the sanctuary-like Selworthy. Jewel in West Somerset's crown - a target for a thousand calendar and postcard photographers since cameras were invented and probably for some time before that if you count the watercolour-wielding travellers of the last century.
