THE new Cruze four-door saloon, which has just gone on sale, is said by Chevrolet to be probably its most important new model to arrive in Britain so far. Its size places it in a hard fought market sector, which has lately been under attack by cars from the far east offering lengthy warranties and impressive value for money - such as the Kia cee'd and Soul, and Hyundai i20 and i30.

Chevrolet sees them - and Skoda's recently upgraded Octavia - amongst serious competitors, but feels the Cruze is capable of competing further upmarket against more expensive rivals when comparing its specification and build quality.
