There is nothing wrong with demanding local authorities in future work harder on behalf of the communities they serve and deliver-up services that are at least the equal of those they currently provide for less cost. After all, private businesses are charged with doing that on a daily basis when times are hard.
But there comes a point when the cuts get so deep that any hope of maintaining a quality service can no longer be sustained, however imaginative and creative local authority staff and councillors might be and however far 'out of the box' they try to think.See the full content of this document
