TWO years ago, on my BBC radio programme, I mentioned that in the near future the Government would be switching off AM and FM radio, forcing us to buy DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) receivers - or go without radio.

I was sent for by the current El Supremo and asked whence I had obtained this story? I said it had featured in the Press, whereupon I was told I should not believe all I saw in newspapers. This attempt to treat me like a 75-year-old child angered me and I explained that the "story" had come direct from Ofcom which regulates, and nowadays often fines, the BBC.
