A naval officer died following an accident aboard Devonport- based HMS Ocean, an official report has revealed. It comes as it was warned that cutbacks threaten to compromise safety at military bases and aboard ships and submarines. The Defence Environment and Safety Board is the senior panel that reports to ministers about all aspects of safety across the Ministry of Defence estate. Its newly published 2010 report found there has been "little evidence of improvement" in safety levels since the previous year and noted the number of safetyrelated deaths of MoD personnel more than doubled over the year, from seven to 15.
This included a death following a "fall from height" aboard the helicopter carrier HMS Ocean.See the full content of this document
