Delight at Sighting of 53 Buzzards

Summary

Ron Clarke, of St Dominic, in South East Cornwall, tells me of his delight in seeing 11 buzzards in a field while he was out rabbiting. On telling the farmer's wife of this she said, "that was nothing, there was 28 there last week". Buzzards are known for searching fields for beetles, worms and other such food at this time and I have written in this column about seeing 53 together on the Filleigh Estate in North Devon. On that day I was leading a field outing with the Audubon Society over from America and they were delighted.

My thanks to all readers who send in wildlife news - it livens up the column to hear from all over the Westcountry.
