A LANDLADY listening to radio news about road smashes caused by ice was stunned when she heard a loud crash and found a car had demolished the doors of her pub - after skidding on ice.

The Volkswagen Golf smashed through the wooden front double doors of The Bridge Inn near Redruth, West Cornwall, yesterday morning - before the pub opened. Nobody was hurt in the accident, which is believed to have been caused by black ice on the road.
