THE latest car production figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and traders (SMMT) are a welcome boost to the automotive industry.

Economic growth, a competitive exchange rate and the introduction of innovative new models have helped to lift manufacturing levels above those seen in 2009. Land Rover in particular saw a 58 per cent rise in demand in January 2010 and new Discovery 4 sales were up by an amazing 92 per cent, due in the main, says Land Rover, to icy weather conditions.
