A Tory MP who leads a group of 120 eurosceptic Conservatives has defended his decision not to rebel against the Government over Europe.

George Eustice, MP for Camborne and Redruth, tabled a Commons amendment calling for a route map towards an EU referendum in years to come. But it was not called by the Speaker of the House. It ran contrary to the motion tabled by fellow Conservative backbenchers, who demanded an immediate referendum, that drew support from 79 Tory MPs.
