HIS HANDS gripped the podium. The knuckles didn't look white. Then again, it was difficult to tell from a distance. European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso looked out over the sea of reporters in front of him. It was, he said, a successful summit (they always say that). What was more notable was the distinct note of worry in his voice as he announced that European Union leaders had reached "an historic agreement on Greece and the financial stability of the euro area".
