MANY charities are facing tough times at present. There is huge competition for grant funding, investment income is down due to falls in interest rates and reduced company dividends, donations from the public and from businesses are more difficult to come by and the fall in house and share prices has had an impact on income received from legacies.

Charities providing services to the public sector are also already well used to the impact of local authority budget constraints.
