Thanks, Melanie Phillips, for such a well-written and witty piece (July 3) on the farce of marks awarded by an examiner for a pupil's brazen disrespect (or in the examiner's view, the correct use and spelling of the expletive).

The facts simply beggar belief, and my knee-jerk reaction was to demand the resignation of Peter Buckroyd, who has not only shown crass stupidity by his own actions, but had the conceit to instruct his fellow examiners to use his incompetence as a yardstick.
