Livestock farmers throughout the country are rallying to a call from a Westcountry industry leader to oppose Government plans that would make them pay millions of pounds towards the cost of dealing with animal diseases.

With the industry still reeling from the double blows of foot and mouth and bluetongue disease, they say it is ridiculous that the Government should expect them to agree to a cost-sharing partnership.
