The postponement of the East Cornwall due to a waterlogged course at Great Trethew left the West Somerset & Minehead Harriers as the sole surviving Westcountry fixture last weekend.

That meeting only survived after a late inspection. Spectators who braved the elements at Holnicote wallowed in deep, slippery mud. Vehicles were towed in and out of the car park and frequent sharp showers tested even the most ardent point-to-point followers. The best thing that can be said weather-wise was that the occasional rainbow encircling the white painted Selworthy church in the distance made a pleasant backcloth.
