Love came calling from dawn until dusk yesterday with the appearance of a giant heart in a Cornish field. Dozens of fluttering flags in red, orange and pink pegged into the ground in precise configuration sent out a romantic, shimmering greeting to everyone driving or walking near the A39 near Bude on Valentine's Day.

The unique art installation was created - with the permission of the landowner - by North Cornwall artists Caroline Cleave and Franca Westaway who are on a mission to bring a smile to people's faces in these times of recession by placing art in the landscape in a self- funded project called heARTfelt.
