Fingerprint Pilot for Club Revellers

Summary

Revellers are being asked to join a police initiative whereby they have their fingerprints scanned before they are allowed into pubs and nightclubs. The Somerset town of Yeovil has been piloting the scheme, called In Touch, and which asks customers to register personal details and have their fingers scanned, for the past six months. Details of someone identified as a troublemaker in one venue can be flashed to other premises in seconds, giving doormen advance warning. Avon and Somerset Police is holding a number of events in the run-up to Christmas to allow people to register with the scheme. The first fingerprint programme takes place on Saturday, November 18 at Chicago Rock, Stars Lane, from 12-5pm.

UNLIMITED entry to Tate St Ives can now be obtained with the launch of the winter pass. The ticket allows visitors to the spectacular gallery in St Ives, Cornwall, to make as many trips as they want to the popular gallery until the end of March for a one- off payment of pounds6. The pass is available from the Tate St Ives Admissions Desk.
