INVESTORS shrugged off gloomy comments from Bank of England Governor Mervyn King - warning the UK had "only just started" on the path to recovery - for a buoyant session that saw the London Market touch a year-high.

The FTSE 100 Index closed 36.2 points higher at 5266.8, but this was down from the year-high of just over 5300 reached earlier in the session.
