Westcountry troops based in Afghanistan are making steady progress in their battle against the Taliban, according to a senior officer.

Lt Col Richard Haldenby arrived back from the southern Helmand province on Tuesday, where he has been in command of 250 troops from Plymouth-based 29 Commando Royal Artillery.
