Summary


This is a big year for the Two Moors Festival. Initially created to put a smile on the faces of a Westcountry community ravaged by foot and mouth, it is now a nationally renowned series of classical music events. This year's ten-day programme is the most ambitious since it started in 2001.

Not only have the festival's ticket sales trebled - from a steady 2,000 in the first year to a massive 6,000-plus this - but organisers have also commissioned their first opera, based on the famed Devon story of Tarka the Otter.

From Tragedy Comes a Musical Triumph

Over the duration of the festival - which runs between October 13 and 22 - some of the best-known works of composers Schubert, Nielsen and Strauss will be performed by world-class musicians. This is alongside a showcase for the best young musicians in the South West and local performers such as the Chagford Singers.
