Fundraising for Injured Jockey

Summary

A fundraising evening in aid of Sarah Gaisford, who was paralysed in a fall at Exeter Racecourse in December, will take place at Dainton Park Golf Club near Newton Abbot tomorrow. A charity auction begins at 8pm and includes live music. Tickets cost pounds5. There will be a golf challenge the following day, with teams of three needed, which costs pounds50 per head. Both days have been organised by Totnes-based trainer Martin Hill, for whom Sarah rode two winners. "All are welcome and we would be grateful to anyone who is willing to offer items to auction." For details call Martin on 01803 813102 or 07980 490220.

CONTESTING a first Medium with Viena S proved a good move for Dressage rider David Reddan who finished equal first on 66.21 with local rider Charlotte Ward (Weronella) at Wellbeck Equestrian. The future is bright for the six-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare who he only got last year and has brought on himself. "We have qualified for the Open Elementary regionals, and I wanted to see how she coped with the Medium, so I couldn't be more pleased," said the Okehampton rider, who won the best young horse prize at the BYRDS festival last month.
