MOST shops and certainly large department stores have biannual clear-outs of stock to get rid of odd items. In food shops this naturally happens more frequently, but galleries have no special reason to mark down goods, as most pieces are unique and individual so, not being part of a range, can remain for years unless deliberately cleared away.
