-R-R-RR! Two weeks into what I now describe as my "teeth episode", there has been a slight downturn in my usual indefatigable spirits. I've had a face like Boris Karloff's ugly brother, and an attitude like Liam Gallagher at closing time. I am not accustomed to such abrupt turns of minor ill-fortune - being usually of defiantly rude health - so am not best pleased.

It began at a weekend when a tooth began trying to box its way out of my gum - then my right cheek welled up like a deformed potato. Just my luck, the dentist was away, so I lurched towards St Patrick's Day with an abcess on my tooth.
