Summary
The Liberal Democrat-proposed unitary council for Cornwall has overshadowed another similar but far more important and far- reaching matter happening at Westminster. I refer to the proposed EU Reform Treaty, where the Labour Government is giving away powers the electorate has entrusted it with.
During the last government, Tony Blair promised the people of Britain a vote on the "EU Constitution". However, following its rejection by both France and Holland a couple of years ago, he got cold feet and changed his mind. Now disguised as the "Reform Treaty" it is back in everything but name. If it is passed, Britain will lose the right to prevent decisions being made more than 60 areas, including energy, transport, employment law and the EU diplomatic service.
