Summary


ONE of the greatest monuments to Cornwall's contribution to the Industrial Revolution is to receive a Pounds 50,000 grant towards repairs.

The imposing Treffry Viaduct in the Luxulyan Valley is a wonder of 19th century construction by any standards which was built to link mines and quarries to the mainline rail network. Abandoned in the 1930s, in recent years it has suffered damage from water and tree roots. To help counter this, English Heritage has announced a Pounds 50,000 grant to carry out detailed investigations into the extent of repairs needed.
