A bid to uncover the lives of the telecommunication pioneers who made Cornwall the Silicone Valley of the late-Victorian and Edwardian period has been awarded a huge cash boost.

The Arts and Humanities Research Council has handed over pounds300,000 to the Porthcurno Telegraph Museum and the University of Exeter's Department of History at the Tremough Campus, Penryn, for the 18-month project.
