Prog rock king Tony McPhee brings the glory years of The Groundhogs to the Westcountry next weekend in a set spanning the band's 1969 to 1972 output. It's a rare chance to see an iconic band in the small and friendly environment of Bideford's Palladium Club. Regulars on the blossoming blues and RnB circuit of the 60s, The Groundhogs backed John Lee Hooker on his first British tour. John liked them so much that they backed him on future British tours and preferred to travel in their Commer van.
Over the last 40 years the band - in various guises, but with Tony at the helm - have released more than 20 albums including Scratchin' the Surface, Split, Solid and the double live album Hogging the Stage.See the full content of this document
