Himalayan Engine Proves a Big Hit in Cornwall

Summary


A RARE steam engine regarded as a national treasure in India has been on show in Cornwall after returning to Britain for the first time in more than a century.

The No 19 has been delighting crowds at the Launceston Steam Railway in North Cornwall after the old engine was loaned to the railway by a British businessman. The engine is thought to be the only one of its kind to have left India, where they can often be seen climbing tracks in the shadow of the towering mountains of the Himalayas.
