BECOMING increasingly popular are rag fairs, but offering that little bit extra is the Honiton Textiles, Costume and Decorative Items Fair on Tuesday in the Mackarness Hall. All sorts of interesting items can be found here for modest prices, and even if not in particularly good condition - like the little toy horse from France (Pounds 48) on Liz van Hasselt's stand - they do have a certain charm.

From her frequent forays across the Channel, this dealer always produces an eclectic mix of fascinating items and this fair is no exception. From hand-knitted hats that start at Pounds 12 to an elegant 1930s black velvet evening dress at Pounds 48, the range is quite extraordinary.
