EIGHT hundred pairs of shoes donated by former Philippines first lady Imelda Marcos were rescued from floods that devastated the country.

Shoe museum staff quickly moved Marcos's footwear to top shelves as floodwaters rose knee-deep inside the building, Marikina city mayor Maria Lourdes Fernando said yesterday. Marikina, east of Philippines capital Manila, is the centre of the country's shoe industry.
