Summary
If ever there was a doll with that Monday morning look, it is the Armand Marseille example in Bearne's Exeter sale on Tuesday. Poor little thing, despite her long curly hair held firmly in place by a bonnet, she can barely keep her large blue eyes open and yet is all ready to step out, in her black shoes and socks and smart two-tone beige full length costume which shows just a little broderie anglaise petticoat at the hem.
Her face has rosy cheeks and her open mouth displays four upper teeth as usual, and she has a jointed composition body, stamped Made in Germany, Armand Marseille 390 A11M. Measuring 23.75in (60cm) high, she anticipates interest of pounds200-pounds250 as this was one of the leading doll makers of the period.See the full content of this document
