Ian Holloway has admitted that Plymouth Argyle have had a bid for Gillingham midfielder Matthew Jarvis rejected by the Kent club.

The Pilgrims' manager is keen to strengthen his squad when the transfer market reopens for business in January, providing he can find suitable purchases within his price range. Jarvis, a 20-year- old wide player, would have fitted the bill if the Coca-Cola League One club had accepted Argyle's bid, but the Gills are holding out for more than Plymouth are at present willing to pay.
