I should like heartily to endorse your leader column headed "The joke's over", with reference to the Irish gentleman who was bullied into resigning as editor of his local parish magazine for having the temerity to tell Irish jokes in the publication.
If the female local government officer concerned has been accurately reported, her grimly humourless attitude is both arrogant, in the claim of "particular expertise" etc., and ignorant.See the full content of this document
